and on the 345th day, he created a metallica playlist

So that's me. And I just made a Metallica playlist. It rocks. It's been on my to-do list for a while now, and I've been keeping good notes while rockin' out with that mop on my head. In case your world is lookin' for a little rockin' of its own, here's the list (20 main set songs for 20 days 'til one year in Ethiopia, I s'pose):

  1. Whiskey in the Jar
  2. Fight Fire With Fire
  3. Ronnie
  4. The Unforgiven
  5. Breadfan
  6. Master of Puppets
  7. The Unnamed Feeling
  8. The Four Horsemen [Live from Paris, found on the Unnamed Feeling EP]
  9. The Unforgiven II
  10. Don't Tread On Me
  11. Harvester of Sorrow
  12. Creeping Death [Mexico City, Live Shit: Binge & Purge, disc 1]
  13. The Memory Remains
  14. Broken, Beat & Scarred
  15. To Live Is To Die
  16. The Unforgiven III
  17. The End Of The Line
  18. Motorbreath
  19. Ain't My Bitch
  20. Battery
Encore
  1. Fixxxer
  2. Damange Inc.
  3. Seek And Destroy [Live from Camden Newark; Official recording from the 10th and most recent Metallica show I attended; Super Bowl Sunday 2009; Went with MetallichikK and left with my first ever Lars drumstick]
I know. Sick playlist, right? It takes gravitas to start out with Whiskey. And did you hear the way the explosions from Fight parlayed so nicely into Ronnie, or how slam-dunk perfect the first chord of Master rips into the kid's voice at the end of Breadfan? Wicked sick. If you want to give me the best 30th birthday gift ever, convince Metallica to come to Ethiopia and play this list one year from now.

  1. Love it. That show wasn't in Camden though dear. Perhaps you were too drunk to remember bit we roadtripped for that one.

  2. I think that this is your first blog entry to which I cannot relate. Other than remembering that you got the drumstick after the last concert. I'm glad to see that you're enjoying the music around the globe!
